Join us this fall in a mixed-age early childhood class for families to experience music with preschool children, ages 1 - 5.
Perfect for sibling groups, but also for a grownup and single child to interact in a playful and nurturing musical environment. This exposure-oriented class is designed to explore opportunities for developing awareness of steady beat, pitch, and rhythm through singing, movement and playing rhythm instruments.
~Each student needs their own instruments for class and Mp3s of our song set, which may be purchased through Harmony Road; instruments required include a skin, a wood, a metal, and a shaker - also bring a scarf or similar prop for movement and a stuffed animal.
~Social distancing will be required and when possible, the morning sections of this class will be taught outdoors in the Market House backlot
~Suggested adult to child ratio is one adult for no more than 2 children.
~8 weeks of classes in Sept and Oct with a potential to continue the class into November indoors, depending on COVID-19 guidelines at that time.
~Limit 5 families per class with only 1 adult per family. Max of 7 children per class.
A new offering for groups of families who have formed a quarantine pod and would like to experience rhythmic musical games, lullabies, beat-keeping/bouncing songs, and movement. Designed to help parents in creating a rich musical environment for their babies and toddlers, it is a springboard to stimulate daily music-making.
~Click on the button to schedule a class and we will contact you to discuss studio availability and book your teacher.
~Please no more than 5 families per pod. Minimum of 4 children/max 7
~Families will need to provide their own instruments and stuffies to maintain safety in the studio, especially since babies and toddlers love to "taste" their instruments. We have instruments you can purchase or we can guide the group in what kinds of instruments and props are needed.
~Class is 8 weeks with the possibility of add-on weeks if requested.
~Class can be customized to fit the age groups of the children in the class.
At about age 3 or earlier, children can begin to associate sound with symbols, so this is the perfect time to begin taking musical concepts from experiential to more concrete. Music inMe and Rhythm Readers are two programs that guide the learner to a deeper understanding and ability to communicate musically - connecting the aural to written notation, and developing audition skills.
~Music in Me is a dynamic readiness program for young children (older 3s - young 5s in preschool), with emphasis on ear training, solfege singing, movement, keyboard activities, pitch and rhythm awareness to prepare students for future piano lessons.
~Rhythm Readers is designed for students ages 5 - 7 and lays a solid foundation of musical aptitude and music literacy through songs and games which introduce and reinforce the musical concepts of beat, rhythm, melody, form, harmony and musical notation. Movement, improvisation and creativity also emphasized.
14-week semesters/45 min per week/Instrument sets and props are required.
"Harmony Road's Piano Program has always focused on developing the total musician!
And we have been adapting with the times and reinventing ways to deliver our lessons! It may look a little different with the new normal of social distancing, but it's the same top-quality instruction you have come to know from Harmony Road!" A. Allen
This fall, we have multiple options for
learning to play the piano!
From group lessons to duo lessons to private lessons, our aim is to guide the student in creative and artful expression of their music!
You choose from in-person lessons (with social distancing and other safety measures in place) OR virtual lessons online. Either way, we are prepared to make the most of brand new innovative technologies both in-studio or when digitally delivered to you at home.
~16-week semester / groups starting at age 6 and up / tuition and materials fees depends on the lesson option you choose
~Individual sets of rhythm instruments should be brought weekly from home. We have some available for purchase - choose what you need at time of registration.
